New Link Reporting tool from Google

by Prakash Rangarajan on April 2, 2007

Checking backlinks to your website does’nt get more easier than this. Google now offers website owners a new improved way to find some insight on where all your backlinks come from. It gives a fair picture of your link building efforts as also helps you find natural links that can acrue as a result of useful content on your web presence.

You can now say Goodbye to the search engine’s “link: operator” which was the norm before. Even otherwise the “link:www.sitename” query would just give you a sampled list of the backlinks.Of course Google does it to prevent search engine manipulation.

This Google “Glasnost” as I would term it doesnt mean Google is fully open at heart. Backlinks are not available to all and sundry. Site ownership is first verified before you get access to this resource. Site owners have the privelege of downloading upto a million links from the Webmaster Tools panel.

Just make a detour to WebMaster Central to find out more
